Before beginning our work,
we wash
the article, an essential task fot two
reasons : first to rehumidify the fibers
to make them flexible, to recover
the original vibrancy of the colours.
We carry out prior
tests in order to avoid any
problems due to the fragility of the object
or to the presence of chemical dyes.
Washing is carried out
in the traditionnal manner.
Then we conduct a careful
investigation of the fabric
to determine an appropriate restoration :
wether conservation aimed at
protecting the article and halting
the process of degradation,
or reconstitution,
to make the design more legible. |
